Late Cretaceous period, about 68 million years ago.
Tyrannosaurus was a carnivorous (meat-eating) dinosaur from the Last Cretaceous period, about 68 million years ago. Its fossils are found throughout what is now western North America, on what was then an island continent known as Laramidia.
Tyrannosaurus had a massive skull balanced by a long, heavy tail. Its hind limbs were large and powerful, and its fore limbs were small, and had two clawed digits. It is believed to have had the largest bite force among all terrestrial animals.
